ABOUT TEAM AUSTRALIA

Proud to be wearing Green & Gold on the World Stage!

Who we are

Team Australia represents the nation at the World Black Bass Championships, an international freshwater fishing tournament bringing together elite anglers from across the globe. Team Aus has already proven themselves internationally, bagging 2nd Place - in Italy 2024 & 3rd Place - in South Africa 2025. Meaning they are recognised as one of the strongest emerging nations in international tournament fishing.

In October 2026, Team Australia will compete in Hot Springs, Arkansas — one of the world’s premier bass fishing destinations.

Our Objectives

Team Australia enters the World Black Bass Championships with a clear purpose — to elevate tournament fishing nationally, compete at the highest international level, and represent Australia with professionalism and pride.

Our objectives focus on four key pillars:

Tournament Fishing Awareness:

Tournament lure fishing has evolved significantly since the late 1990s. Through the growth of events such as the Australian Bass Tournaments and the AFC, competitive fishing is now recognised as a legitimate and highly skilled sport.

As ambassadors of the discipline, our role is to:

  • Showcase tournament fishing as a performance-based sport

  • Inspire the next generation of anglers

  • Demonstrate that Australian anglers can compete on the world stage

Olympic Dreams

Competitive fishing belongs in the Olympic conversation. Fishing already has an established international governing body, World Championships, anti-doping commitments in parts of the sport, and participation across dozens of countries. It has been pursuing Olympic recognition for years, but it has not yet been recognised by the IOC as an Olympic sport.

Sustainable Fishing:

We are committed to promoting responsible and sustainable fishing practices. Through education, sportsmanship, and best-practice catch and release methods, we aim to protect fisheries while ensuring the long-term future of recreational and competitive angling.

Profile Raising:

International competition provides an opportunity to elevate the profile of:

  • Tournament fishing in Australia

  • The athletes who compete

  • The businesses and sponsors who support the sport

By building visibility and credibility, we create pathways for growth across the entire angling community.

Representing Australia:

“Team Australia” is not a title we take lightly. Our anglers are selected as the best in the country. Each member is committed to preparation, professionalism, and performance at the highest international level. This provides partners with association to national pride, elite performance, and international competition.
